How to read this chart

A value above 1 means Bitcoin is the larger of the two, below 1 means Apple still is. Both sides are market caps — price times supply for Bitcoin, price times shares outstanding for Apple — so this is a like-for-like size comparison rather than a comparison of a coin price against a share price, which would mean nothing.

Method and data

The chart and the three figures above are recomputed from OmniaChart's production data API, not copied from an earlier version of this page. The series is Bitcoin's market capitalization divided by Apple's market capitalization, built as one point per date the two sides share, which is why the observation count (3,373) is smaller than the calendar span. Coverage runs 2013-04-29 to 2026-08-07 — 13.3 years. The vertical axis is logarithmic, so equal distances are equal percentage moves. The window opens on the first day of continuous Bitcoin market-cap data. The reconstructed 2009-2013 series is excluded: before Bitcoin traded, the ratio has no meaning.

If the underlying series stops updating, this page is not regenerated with old numbers: the generator refuses to write it. A dated figure is the only kind worth publishing.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bitcoin bigger than Apple?

The number at the top of this page answers it for the date printed beside it. Above 1 would mean Bitcoin is larger; below 1 means Apple still is. The line shows how close the gap has come, and when.

Can a cryptocurrency and a company really be compared?

By market capitalization, yes: both are a price multiplied by an outstanding quantity. What the comparison does not capture is that a company produces cash flows and a bearer asset does not.

Is this chart free?

Yes. BTC/AAPL is one of the free cross-asset ratios and opens without an account.
